As we look back on the Georgia Symphony Orchestra’s 74th season, we’re filled with pride, gratitude, and excitement for what lies ahead.
This past year was a tremendous success: we presented 12 concerts and performed for over 11,000 patrons. One of the season’s highlights was the world-premiere of Requiem Americano, a powerful new work that left a lasting impression on audiences.
Our youth orchestra, the Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestra (GYSO), also had an incredible year. 330 students from 14 different counties completed our program, with all 44 graduating seniors heading to college — and collectively earning nearly $2 million in scholarship offers.
Beyond the concert hall, the GSO remained committed to accessibility and education. We gave away nearly $50,000 worth of free tickets to veterans, seniors, and families from low-income neighborhoods. We opened our doors to local students and teachers for open rehearsals and clinics, and provided a full orchestral experience for 1,000 school-aged children. In total, the GSO’s activities contributed more than $1 million in economic impact to our community.
Every musician. Every audience member. Every volunteer, donor, and student. You’re all part of what makes this symphony thrive. Because the truth is: it takes a community to make a symphony.
Now, as we turn the page, we’re launching our Annual Board Match Campaign. Thanks to the generosity of our Board of Directors, every contribution made through June 30 will be matched dollar for dollar—up to $15,000—to help us reach our $30,000 goal.
Your support does more than fund concerts. It powers education, nurtures creativity, and makes music accessible to those who need it most.
Why now? Because in a time when government support for the arts is shrinking, the GSO is growing. We’re preparing to launch our most ambitious season yet: our 75th anniversary celebration, packed with inspiring performances, deeper community outreach, and bold new initiatives.
This isn’t just a fundraiser. It’s an invitation. A call to stand with the GSO and say: music matters. Community matters. Connection matters.
Art doesn’t happen in isolation — and neither does a symphony. It takes all of us.
One Symphony. One Community. The next movement begins with you. Will you join us?
