The Georgia Spiritual Ensemble
The Georgia Spiritual Ensemble is fully committed to the tradition of singing Negro Spirituals. They are rapidly distinguishing themselves as one of the few remaining groups in America dedicated to maintaining the style, spirit and the intense energy needed to sing exciting performances of the Negro Spiritual and to move an audience to excitement and enthusiastic applause.
In just a few short years the Georgia Spiritual Ensemble has created a rich, vibrant and exciting sound that has pleased audiences throughout the Southeast. They have had successful performances at the National Association for the Study and Performance of African American Music (NASPAAM), College campuses, Jewish Synagogues and Internationally have had very successful tours in Brazil and Spain.
They have been featured at The Augusta Georgia Westobou Festival and appear annually at the Annual Celebration of the Negro Spiritual.
The Georgia Spiritual Ensemble sing with a feeling, depth and emotion that is sure to spiritually move and excite every listener. Ebony Collier, (Soprano/Mezzo) Timothy Harper, (Tenor) Selina Madison, (Mezzo-Soprano) Oral Moses, (Bass-Baritone) Mazelle Webster, and Johnetta Tillman (sopranos) all have had numerous successes in performing in the Atlanta Metropolitan area and Nationally.
The Georgia Spiritual Ensemble sing traditional, arranged choral and solo spirituals that have become favorites throughout the twentieth century and continue even today.
