GSO Principal Flutist Jeanne Carere joins classical guitarist John Huston for an intimate, candlelit program tracing dance rhythms across the Americas. From Argentina, Astor Piazzolla’s Histoire du Tango (History of Tango) charts the music’s evolution from café to concert stage. From Brazil, Celso Machado’s Suite Popular Brasileira (Popular Brazilian Suite) pulses with choro- and samba-infused vitality. Together, flute and guitar trade lyricism and sparkle in a lively journey through North and South American soundscapes. Close your eyes and you’ll sense the sway of dancers, the colors of distant landscapes, and the heartbeat of cultures brought vividly to life in this intimate concert.
At 6:30, guests are invited to reception and opportunity to meet the artists before the concert. Governor Roy Barnes will also be on hand to begin the performance with a brief reflection on the rich history of Lawrence Chapel.
