The following contains the complete descriptions, rules and regulations for the GSO's "Virtual to Stage Competition".

Timeline of Events

Submissions: February 1 – March 15, 2021

1st Round : March 15th (9 am EST) – March 25th (5pm EST)
The GSO will select up to 75 contestants to continue to Round 2 from total submissions.

2nd Round: April 5th (9 am EST) – April 25th (5pm EST)
Up to 75 Contestants will be featured on Facebook, YouTube and the GSO website, with public voting via “likes” on social media, and direct voting on the GSO website. The top 25 will continue to the next round.

3rd Round: May 8th - May 15th (5pm EST)
25 Contestants will compete in public voting via “likes” on videos published to Facebook and YouTube. Contestants for this round will be asked to submit additional video materials prior to the start of this round. The top 5 contestants will continue to the next round.

4th Round: June 3rd - June 13th (5pm EST)
Final 5 Contestants will compete on Social Media with newly created performance videos.
Adjudication for this final round is by celebrity judges, with the public voting for the community pick winner.

Winner Announcement: June 18th
Winner, Runner Up and Community Picks will be announced

Official Rules

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR TO WIN. SUBJECT TO APPLICABLE FEDERAL, STATE, LOCAL AND MUNICIPAL LAWS AND REGULATIONS. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.

Eligibility

Subject to the additional restrictions below. The competition is open only to legal U.S. residents of the state of Georgia who are 8 years of age or older at the time of entry. The board of directors, staff, musicians, students or volunteers of the Georgia Symphony Orchestra, GSO Chorus, GSO Jazz! or Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestra (collectively “GSO”), and the immediate family members of, and any persons domiciled with, any such individuals are not eligible to enter or to win.

A parent or legal guardian of contestants younger than 18 must submit a signed consent of participation, including willingness and availability to act as a chaperone for the minor for any travel or GSO-sanctioned events associated with the competition.

How To Enter

Competition entries can be submitted beginning at 9:00 a.m. (EST) on Monday, Feb. 1, 2021, until 9:00 p.m. (EST) on Monday, March 15, 2021. Enter by visiting https://www.georgiasymphony.org, completing the Google Forms Application, and uploading a YouTube link to one (1) original video of approximately three (3) minutes in length. The categories of entry are restricted to singing, dancing, playing a musical instrument(s) or any combination thereof. A limit of ten (10) individuals may be included in each submitted video. Each video must be an authentic, original video created by the contestant and may not be a video of a professional performance. The parents or legal guardians of contestants, between 8 and 17 years of age, must consent to submission of the video. GSO reserves the right to refuse any video it determines to be obscene, offensive, unacceptable or inappropriate, containing nudity, or for any other reason deemed. The Georgia Symphony Orchestra further reserves the right to disqualify any entry that is alleged to infringe on any third-party's intellectual property rights, either in the description or video. Contestants certify that any individuals of any age shown in video furnished, have been informed that their video has been entered in a Contest and have no objection to Contestant's submission. Videos may not be digitally altered in any way other than necessary minor editing. Entries must be received by 9:00 p.m. (EST) on Thursday, March 25, 2021.

GSO will not be responsible for incomplete, lost, late, misdirected, or illegible entries. All entries become property of the GSO. Contestants acknowledge and agree that the GSO shall have the right to edit, adapt, modify, reproduce, publish, promote, create a sound recording of, broadcast, or otherwise display or use entries in any way it sees fit without limitation or compensation to contestants. By entering you agree to the terms of these Official Rules and to receive emails from the GSO.

Contest Guidelines

All eligible entries will be evaluated by a team of judges from the GSO and up to 75 video submissions will have their videos posted on the GSO’s website and associated social media accounts and open for public voting beginning at 9:00 a.m. (EST) on Monday, April 5, 2021,and ending at 5:00 p.m. (EST) on Sunday, April 25, 2021. Voters will cast their vote by liking or favoriting a video on the GSO’S Facebook page and/or YouTube channel, and by direct voting on the GSO website. The 25 video entries with the highest cumulative total of recorded eligible “votes” as of 5:00 pm (EST) on Monday, April 25, 2021 will move on to the next round.

Submissions that are removed due to deemed violations of copyright law by YouTube or Facebook will also be removed eligibility from the competition.

The top 25 Contestants will be informed on April 27, 2021 if they have been selected to move on to the next round. These 25 contestants will need to submit an introductory video of themselves of approximately 20-40 seconds. This video should include the Contestant’s name, age, where they are from, what inspired them to start performing, why they entered and any other similar information relevant to the contest. These videos must be submitted no later than Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 5pm (EST).

In this round, the top 25 video submissions will be voted on in the same manner as the previous round, with the exception of no direct voting on the GSO website. The videos will be open for public voting beginning at 9:00 a.m. (EST) on Saturday, May 8, 2021, and ending at 5:00 p.m. (EST) on Saturday, May 15, 2021. The five video entries with the highest cumulative total of recorded eligible votes as of 5:00 pm (EST) on Saturday, May 15, 2021, will move on to the final round.

The final five contestants will be notified of their status on Monday, May 17, 2021. Each of the final five contestants will need to submit a new video of approximately three minutes with new material no later than Tuesday, June 1, 2021.

The categories for entry must be restricted to the category in which they originally entered their first video.

Final videos will be posted on YouTube and Facebook for voting beginning at 5pm (EST) Thursday, June 3, 2021, and ending at 5pm (EST) Sunday, June 13, 2021. These votes will establish the “Community Pick” award presented.

Celebrity Judges (names to be announced on May 10, 2021) will select the first and second place winners from the final five submitted videos. The winner will be announced on June 18, 2021 on the GSO website.

Rules for Minors

Parental guardian grants permission for juvenile(s) to enter the Georgia Symphony Orchestra’s (collectively GSO) Virtual to Center Stage talent competition by digitally signing the application form.

Parental guardian understands and accepts that in the event said juvenile(s) shall be named the winner of the competition, either they, or another legally-appointed adult guardian, will accompany him, her or them as a chaperone for any and all required GSO-sanctioned activities related to the winner’s concert appearance. Parental guardian is aware the winner will receive an invitation to perform with the GSO at a concert in the 2021-2022 season and that the performance date will be arranged upon announcement of the winner.

Parental guardian also grants to the GSO and its agents and employees the irrevocable and unrestricted right to reproduce any photographs and/or video images taken of them, or members of their family, for the purpose of publication, promotion, illustration, advertising or trade, in any manner or in any medium.

Parental guardian hereby releases the GSO and its legal representatives from any and all claims and liability relating in any way to said images or video. Parental guardian likewise grants to the GSO unrestricted permission to use any statements given by them during any interview, with or without their name, for the purpose of advertising and publicity, and waive their right to any compensation for any such use.

Winner Notification and Acceptance

The winner will be notified on Friday, June 18, 2021 on the GSO website and/or social media platforms. The winner will also be notified shortly thereafter via the email address provided on the winner's entry form. The winner must respond to the winner notification within the time period specified in the email notification. Failure to respond within such time period or return of email prize notification as undeliverable may result in disqualification of winner, forfeiture of his or her interest in all prizes, and selection of a substitute winner from among all remaining eligible entries. Winner must present a valid photo identification. Winners may waive their right to receive prizes. Prizes are non-assignable and non-transferable. No substitutions allowed by the winner. Prizes are not redeemable for cash. Prizes and individual components of prize packages are subject to availability and the GSO reserves the right to substitute prizes of equal or greater value. Winner is solely responsible for reporting and payment of any taxes on prizes. Winner may be required to complete an affidavit of eligibility/liability and publicity release (except where prohibited by law) which must be returned as directed by the GSO. Failure to sign and return the affidavit or release, or to comply with any term or condition of these Official Rules, may result in a winner's disqualification, the forfeiture of his or her interest in the prize, and the award of the prize to a substitute winner. Except where prohibited, acceptance of any prize constitutes winner's consent to the publication of his or her name, biographical information and likeness in any media for any commercial or promotional purpose, without limitation the Internet, or further compensation. Prizes not won and claimed by eligible winners in accordance with these Official Rules will not be awarded and will remain the property of the GSO.

Participation

By participating, contestants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of the GSO. The GSO reserves the right to disqualify persons found tampering with, or otherwise abusing, any aspect of this competition as solely determined by the GSO. In the event the competition is compromised by a virus, non-authorized human intervention, tampering or other causes beyond the reasonable control of the GSO which corrupts or impairs the administration, security, fairness or proper operation of the competition, the GSO reserves the right in its sole discretion to suspend, modify or terminate it. Should the competition be terminated prior to the stated expiration date, the GSO reserves the right to award prizes based on the entries received before the termination date. The GSO will not be responsible for incomplete, lost, late, misdirected entries, poor quality videos, or for failure to receive entries or votes or other electronic communications due to transmission failures or technical failures of any kind, including, without limitation, malfunctioning of any network, hardware or software, whether originating with sender or the GSO. In the event of a dispute, all online entries will be deemed to have been submitted by the owner of the internet service provider (ISP) account from which they were sent. For these purposes, an ISP account holder shall mean the natural person assigned to such ISP account by the internet service provider, online service provider or other organization responsible for assigning ISP addresses for the domain associated with such ISP account. Any questions regarding the number of entries or votes submitted by the owner of an ISP account shall be determined by the GSO in its sole discretion, and the GSO reserves the right to disqualify any entries or votes by persons determined to be tampering with or abusing any aspect of the competition. By participating in this promotion, each participant agrees to fully release, forever discharge and hold harmless the GSO, YouTube and Facebook from and against all claims, costs, liabilities, losses, injuries, and damages arising out of the promotion, including, but not limited to, any claims for personal injury, death, or damage to or loss of property or any other harm arising out of participant's participation in the promotion, the receipt, use, or misuse of any prize, or any travel or activity that is related to the promotion or any prize.

Copyright

By entering the competition, each contestant grants to the GSO an exclusive, royalty-free and irrevocable right and license to publish, print, edit or otherwise use the contestant's submitted entry, including any accompanying video or description, in whole or in part, for any purpose and in any manner or media (including, without limitation, the Internet) throughout the world in perpetuity, and to license others to do so, all without limitation or further compensation. Each contestant further agrees that if his/her entry is selected by the GSO as the winning entry, he/she will sign any additional license or release that the GSO may require, and will not publicly perform or display his or her submission without the express permission of the GSO.

Construction

The invalidity or unenforceability of any provision of these rules shall not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision. In the event that any such provision is determined to be invalid or otherwise unenforceable, these rules shall be construed in accordance with their terms as if the invalid or unenforceable provision was not contained therein.
